1. Whale watching
Whale watching is at its peak from July to November and is one of the most popular things to do in Hervey Bay. Whales are best spotted from a whale watching tour, but can also be spotted from land, as the abundance of whales can be spotted from nearly anywhere! Thousands of humpback whales migrate past the Fraser Coast each year, creating a favourite past time for locals and visitors alike.
2. Fraser Island
From Hervey Bay, you can easily take a trip to the famous Fraser Island! One of the main departure points for Fraser Island leaves from River Heads which is found 20 minutes outside of Hervey Bay, making it one of the best places to be for a Fraser Island trip! You can join a day trip or overnight tour to the famous island.
3. Aquarium and Museum
Reefworld Aquarium in Hervey Bay has been in operation for 30 years providing entertainment and education for all those that come to visit. This is a great way to spend a morning or afternoon where you can learn more about the amazing marine life that lives in the ocean around you! 4. Fishing
You can join a tour from Hervey Bay and try your hand at fishing in the ocean waters off the mainland, or grab a rod and try it out on your own. The waters off the coast support a diverse population of fish, making it a great place to get some beauties to cook up for dinner!
5. The Esplanade
Hervey Bay is also abundant with shops, cafes, and restaurants down by the Esplanade, perfect for an afternoon of window shopping and indulging in culinary delights. Hervey Bay also has many small towns nearby, waiting to be explored! This is a great place to relax and rewind and spend a few days as you make your way up or down the East Coast.
